Men Nursing

Nurses are the backbone of the healthcare system, with more than 2.7 million registered nurses and over 750,000 licensed practical nurses working in the system. The demand for Nursing and its scope is increasing in proportion to each day passing by. There are various prospects and career objectives for ones who pursue nursing. Men still constitute a small minority of the nursing population. Although the reason has been identified, barriers that deter men from entering the profession, nursing schools and other stakeholders have been conservative in their efforts to recruit men. Active recruitment of young men may be a means of addressing nursing shortages. If nursing is to survive, affirmative action is needed to close the gender gap. More schools for men and more campaigns are needed to be organized.
