Community and Family Nursing

In their practice, nurses have long provided care for individuals, families, and communities. The number of nurses working outside of hospitals has increased recently; these nurses are mostly employed in community-based settings that prioritize the needs of individuals and families. Additionally, community-focused nursing care—in which the community serves as the client—is receiving more and more attention. Furthermore, a transition in care from the more traditional acute care settings to the community has been facilitated by public concerns about the quality, cost, accessibility, and fragmentation of health care. Nursing practice has changed as a result of this.
