Amsterdam is the capital and popular city of the Netherlands. Amsterdam was originated at the Amstel that was dammed to control overflow flooding, the city's name rises from the Amstel dam.  Amsterdam developed as one of the most popular ports in the world during 17th century. Cycling is key to the city's charisma, and there are frequent bike tracks.The Seaport of Amsterdam is the fifth largest in Europe.  It lies to the east of Damrak and covers the city's famous red-light district.  Amsterdam had its own type of the style.

However, Amsterdam is not reflected 'the media city of the Netherlands'. Radio Netherlands, heard worldwide via shortwave radio since the 1920s, is also based there. Hilversum is home to an extensive complex of audio and television studios going to the national broadcast production company NOS, as well as to the studios and offices of all the Dutch public dissemination associations and many commercial TV production establishments.
